The Ultimate Hope[edit | edit source]

The man whose single, only and ultimate purpose, goal, fate, destiny, desire, and origin can only be described with the word "HOPE". He believes that in the goal of pursuing hope, nothing can not be righteous and any means will ultimately be justified. To this extent, he believes himself to be worthless other than as a stepping ladder for hope that must do everything in his power to embolden hope, even if it means setting despair and damaging smaller hopes so it can be consumed by and birth a bigger hope.

TFR/Season 1[edit | edit source]

Komaeda joins TFR to witness hope and despair clash in the ring. To Komaeda, TFR it's an spectacle: Will hope win over despair? Or will despair consume hope, opening the path for an even brighter hope in it's defeat? Komaeda is ecstatic to find out.

Episode 4

Komaeda debuts in a match of multiple people who have experienced despair. By losing, he becomes a stepping stone for their hope.

Episode 6

Once again, hopeman is content with watching other peoples' hope.

Episode 8

He becomes the stone to embolden Erwin Smith's hope.

Off-Season 1[edit | edit source]

"We can't lose hope against the ayys!" ― Komaeda, as everyone else in the XCOM squad is on the brink of despair

Komaeda quickly proved himself to be a valuable member of The Final Resistance, often leading the team out from the brink of defeat and winning against all odds, proving himself of the title of "HOPEMAN".

He also demonstrated himself to be excellent in killing The Chosen, killing two out of three, denying himself the hat trick because he felt bad.

In the final mission, he nearly died and became the target of a panicked Kirigiri, but survived purely through hope alone.

TFR/Season 2[edit | edit source]

Once again, Komaeda returns to job and give people crazed looks when he gets cucked out of a win because it emboldens hope.

Episode 1

Komaeda suddenly found himself in the ring against a large, skeleton-looking ayy who called himself "The Chosen Hunter", who claimed Komaeda was going to kill him and shit on his bed. As it turns out Komaeda is probably a better shot than he is a wrestler and fell victim to Hunter's incel rage.

HOPEMAN's strange Goal to be with Richtofen and ???

To much surprise, it appears even HOPEMAN himself has fallen victim to despair, for he now appears to be supporting the Kyokotofen (Kirigiri and Richtofen) pairing (though, how canon Goals are is currently debatable, perhaps he hasn't fallen to despair yet?).

Episode 8.5

Against a bloodthirsty assassin with a rather unlucky belt attempt record, Komaeda can't help but emboden his hope.

Episode 11

Komaeda can't believe it, he's facing against the the very Ushiromiya Battler, the one who has filed so many hearts with hope with his matches, who through despair of losing every match, created a surge of hope by winning on the day of the final battle. Komaeda is basically drowning in hope in this match.

TFR/Season 3[edit | edit source]

"I believe my jobbing will become the foundation of this brand's hope. And...if that really happens... Praise me. Tell others what I've accomplished. Erect a bronze statue of me. Respect me. Please call me...the Ultimate Jobber"

Our beloved hopejobber pushes on, hoping and jobbing matches as always.

Episode 5[edit | edit source]

It finally happened
It finally happened
The image that did it.

When OP was about to lose hope about the stream getting NET'd again, he put these two together. And, surprising everyone, Hopeman finally managed to win. After a, probably intentional, all losses record, Hopeman created a surge of hope by winning his first match and defeating the crasher of games.

Coincidentially, someone in the thread had gotten a get moments before his win, and the thread was thus filled with hopeposting after. Truly, Komaeda had become hope in that match.

TFR/Season 4[edit | edit source]

Sits out this one, probably wallowing in Kojima's despair before it brings out a monumental hope.

Episode 11[edit | edit source]

After an event known as "The Nettening", the stream would only start for real if he got over 60 people, and thus he set a (obviously non-canon) match between Hopeman and despair priest. Not only did Komaeda win, but the stream managed to barely get over 60 viewers just as it ended, starting the finale.

TFR/Season 5[edit | edit source]

With the conference going, Komaeda sees everyone's strong hopes for the Kojima situation to never repeat, and comes back to the ring to witness it.

Episode 3

Tastes the hope of some weird dude.

TFR/Season 6[edit | edit source]

Three fateful strangers meeting due to coincidental luck

"i love you. and if you need me, just let me know. oh. and one more thing. take my bloon" ― take it

After the Death Game, he gets to witness as everyone's hopes slowly rise from the pits of despair.

At some point, competes with Nero and Joshua Graham in a carnival "Shoot the Ayyys!" hosted by Central in a TFR Festival.

Episode 1

Participates in the rumble for fifth Master of the Order of the Locker Room to become a stepping stone to other participants.

Episode 2

Teams up with Mitake Miyao after being saved by him in a door accident. They fight Sandro and the Necrodancer in a tag-team match but the match ends in a draw due to Sandro and Miyao being outside the ring at the 10-count.

Episode 3

Joins team Hopersona consisting of Door-kun and Suou Tatsuya in order to have a 3v3 against the coomer gang.

Komaeda mentions to Suou Tatsuya that Miyao talked to him and he's going to confront Kadoya himself. Tatsuya thinks that he could be getting into something dangerous, but he's in the right for fighting his own fights. Nevermind that, Tatsuya gets to the point and asks Komaeda to join him for a 3v3 match later tonight since he has a spot open. Yuki thinks he's a bit weird, but Tatsuya says it'll be fine.

Episode 4[edit | edit source]

After the explosion by the uprising rioters, Miyao asks Komaeda to separate to look for people needing help.

Unluckily runs into the demon Minotaur but is luckily saved by Rando who defends him from the monster while he runs away. After re-encountering with Miyao and Kadoya, he tells him to go with Kadoya to find Tatsuya and Makoto while he's going to save Rando. Even thought Kadoya points out that the two traitors are ready to put a finishing blow on him, Miyao instructs Komaeda to go find Tatsuya and Makoto, and Kadoya gives up on stopping such a strong will. Komaeda and Kadoya meet up with Tatsuya and Makoto but they have to escape from a masked man with a bat, a girl? with a golf club, and a zombie with gym equipment...

After Broken Man goes on to face BANS, Kadoya, Makoto, Tatsuya and Komaeda are the last ones remaining. Kadoya keeps clearing the way as they run for the exit, but the tremors keep intensifying. However, after BANS' match ends, it's already too late. Kadoya desperately tries one last thing as the rumbling reaches it's peak.

>Kadoya casts Toraport!

Episode 5[edit | edit source]

"Whatever happens after this, you'd better not forget me.
Because you and me are going to make a world where hope and talent can change anything.
" ― Young man

The group awakens in a shining place, being greeted by Hagakure Yasuhiro. He tasks them with obtaining the blessing of Jah before they can continue. He instructs Komaeda to fight the "alien" behind one of the doors that stole his hamburger. Komaeda wins and receives Jah's Blessing.

After the "training" is over, Hagakure tells him they can go home now, and Kadoya opens a portal.

They are dropped far from the ground, and are greeted by a young man who helps them. He introduces himself as Albus Bernstein, which reminds them of someone... Tatsuya mentions if they can meet Central, and asking if they are with "The Final Resistance", the claim that they lost contact with them in a field mission. As Albus takes them to TFR HQ, Komaeda thinks a city standing tall after the apocalypse is truly a hopeful thing to see, when he sees a posted for "King of the Ring Board Tournament III".

When they reach HQ and Albus introduces them, Central, looking way older, initially doesn't recognize them until he mentions his name, they were one of the missing people after "The Disaster", and reveals they are 12 years in the future.

The Resistance is preparing two parallel raids to strike subsidiaries of both sides, and are holding qualifying matches. Tatsuya and company agrees to watch for now.

Central calls everyone qualified for the raids and asks Kadoya's group to take a step back from the front line since it's their first time. The man they are going to raid, is none other than the one who built his fortune on the misfortune of The Disaster by creating his own currency: Tazuna Joe.

Episode 7[edit | edit source]

Komaeda and NagitoMakoto go on the raid to Serge's Fort, tasked with investigating the Reservoir of Souls that is important to Dark Serge. As Komaeda is just lucky enough to find the correct room, they enter and see... Sweet Tooth!...'s cardboard cutout. However, the real one steps behind Komaeda and knocks him out, and a beeping sound emanates from the cardboard cutout. Before Makoto can do anything, the bomb explodes, and Komaeda is gone. He beats the shit out of Sweet Tooth.

As it turns out, however, it was lucky that Komaeda survived and just fell through the explosion's hole. He finds himself in front of the Reservoir of Souls, and seeing the fate of the souls, he can't stop himself from tasting their hope... just a sip...

Makoto makes it out of the fort just before it's set on fire, but there was not a sight of Komaeda leaving.

Episode 8[edit | edit source]

Tatsuya receives a message: it's Komaeda wanting in a city cafe.

How have you been recently?

I heard things weren't going so well.

I just wanted to let you know that I'm here for you.

Me and the rest of the clowns.

Any time you need us, just call my clown phone.

Just dial me up, you know my number.

I'll drive on over in my clown car, bring all your best friends.

We can have a party. We can have a good time.

You aren't alone in this.

You need to lay back every once in a while.

Need to... Clown around, you know?

So, I just wanted to reiterate that...

I love you.

And if you need me, just let me know.

And one more thing.

Take my bloon.

Episode 9

When Clownmaeda returns to The Circus with a sad expression, they decide to kill Tatsuya for daring to hurt their baby boy. The clowns invade the factory after JOKER's voices tell him that he needs to kill Tatsuya.

After finding him, they start beating Tatsuya up, when Kadoya and Makoto show up. The clowns intend to kill them, but Makoto, having regained his will to live, tells Kadoya to take Tatsuya and run for the sake of everyone. As the clowns pursue, Makoto closes the door and fights them alone.

The clowns don't have any compassion on him and beat him into a pulp.

Episode 11[edit | edit source]

Joker, Hisoka, Sweet Tooth, Tricky, Rando and Clownmaeda with The Bloon.

The circus is taking their boy Clownmaeda to McDonalds to cheer him up, when Dlanor A. Knox, who Dutch's group is taking there as well, asks to get the Bloon. A fight breaks out between the adult groups, while Dlanor and Clownmaeda agree to exchange the Bloon if she wins. Komaeda ends up giving her the Bloon.

Episode 12

The Circus contact God-Emperor II, the greatest assassin of BANS Army, to take down Suou Tatsuya. BANS initially insists he decline as he carries the Summoning Key within him, but he insists he is immortal.

Episode 13

When Messiah attacks the now bloon'd Rando for his half of the belt, Komaeda is supporting him.

Episode 14

The clowns instantly knew he was good with children and task him with protecting their baby boy Clownmaeda.

As they make their way through Chris' Dungeon looking for belt, Clownmaeda rambles about his wish to make talents be recognized above everything else, the way the kings squander it, as it happened with Yuki. Tatsuya, however, still holds that same hope, the one to change the world. This makes Rando doubt himself.

Komaeda eventually finds "Chris" and his prisoner and tries to defeat him, but loses.

Episode 15[edit | edit source]

"hey. how have you been recently?... No, it doesn't matter. It's over, Tatsuya. You had your chance. We all had our chance. But now, it's time to decide what's important. We're all fighting for what we think is right. My clown phone's been disconnected. The clown car is in the impound. And where are all your friends?... It ends, soon."

The clowns are set up against Tatsuya's Party, with Komaeda stating that he had a choice to make with that bloon and he made the wrong one, they plan to take the Summoning Key in this battle of hopes to create their world of absolute talents. Tricky is sent to collect clown farts to brainwash them.

However, before the 3-on-4 fight can begin, Rando decides he will not let this continue, having steeled himself to do the right thing. Rando joined Tatsuya's Party in the nick of time!

This incurs the fury of the betrayed clowns, who destroy Tatsuya's team in their honking rage.

As everyone's on the ground and the clowns move in to finish them, Kadoya's voice resonates within Tatsuya and encourages him to defy his destiny, and summoning Kadoya's Kamen Rider Persona, he wills himself to stand up and protect everyone. Casting Deadly Burn on JOKER starts to burn away his mask, and the sheer force of his determination in his eyes is enough to scare even the clowns into fleeing. Clownmaeda stares at him and smiles, saying that he's glad he could embolden his hope, and that the world's fate is up to him.

Tatsuya... I'm glad...
In the end, I was able to become a stepping stone for your hope!
From now on... This world's fate is up to you.

Episode 16[edit | edit source]

Clownmaeda has one last match against the hero of law, Messiah. He defeats him.

Episode 17

When Mitake Toujirou holds the Summoning Key, Komaeda's hope is able to reach Tatsuya.

Hahaha... To see everyone's hopes shine this bright! This is what I wished for!

TFR/Season 0[edit | edit source]

A young student who desires nothing more than seeing the hope of the world bloom. He's a trial wrestler in TFR.

Episode 1

Gets interviewed before his EC match; to share the ring with such talented individuals... he wishes he can become a stepping stone for their hope.

Episode 2

Decides to become a stepping stone for Haze Stratos' therapy, but seeing how his hope can shine brighter, he further pushes him into despair.

Episode 5

Beats a cell full of powerful opponents by pinning Nero, driving him as well as everyone else into jobber despair so that their hope might become even bigger when they stop jobbing (lol).

Episode 9

Participates in a clusterfuck of a match (which is probably like that because of his luck in the first place) and somehow manages to win through the chaos by luck.

Episode Extra

With the war against Amon Elite Wrestling nearing its end, a rumble is held to determine who will challenge the Amon's secret weapon.

TFR/Season 6: Epilogue[edit | edit source]

Komaeda Nagito is a student at Hope's Peak Academy, who also does wrestling as on his free time, and he'll soon be debuting in a popular federation. While walking through the street, he bumps into a loner student, when he hears a familiar song. An emo-looking guy asks him to let him pass, and recognizes him as a wrestler, since he will debut in TFR soon. Then, a girlish-looking kid shows up, asking for some directions for the nearest McDonalds. Komaeda tells the "kid" that he doesn't know, which makes him mad saying he's around his age, but this baffles the emo guy, and Komaeda laughs at such a misunderstanding. The loner student smiles faintly.

TFR/Season 7[edit | edit source]

Komaeda (re-)debuts in The Final Rumble, awaiting to see everyone's hope.

Episode 1/TFR

Komaeda listens to Maximillion Pegasus' monologue and finding his despair, decides to test its strength, to either deepen his despair to make way for a bigger hope, or be defeated by a hope that's strong enough, but either way, to become a stepping stone for him.

Episode 4/TFR

Defeats Pixy and Joker in a match against despair.

Episode 5/TFR

Lets jobbers step on him to embiggen their hope.

Episode 9

When asked by Furio Tigre if he has seen Bevi, he denies it but wonder if either TFR or BCW's hopes will be bigger.

The Extinct Light[edit | edit source]

With the death of despair at the end of the TFR vs. BCW tournament, comes the birth of a brand new hope, and Komaeda is ready to witness it firsthand from within Amakusa Elite Wrestling.

Episode 1

Participates in the AEW World Title Tournament.

TFR/Season 8[edit | edit source]

As a Titan of Tomorrow, Komaeda can't wait to see how the current situation turns out; the current despair permeating Coolsville completely engulfed the moment of hope created at the end of the tournament. Will despair devour the city and compress it into a bullet for hope? or will hope win in the end and vanquish despair as a rising star that illuminates the entire city? As the ultimate abjurer of hope, he shall witness so, nudging hope and despair bit by bit from within the ring.

Episode 1

Participates in a Future Stars vs. Titans of Tomorrow match.

Episode 2

Somehow defeated HUNK in a squash thanks to the power of hope... surely.

Episode 3

If Komaeda is the one that allows despair to destroy and creates with hope, then Arisato is his antithesis as the gatekeeper of exchange. It feels like there was more to their meeting than simple luck, but even then Komaeda won't hold back for the sake of dethroning despair with hope. Even when Arisato teleports behind Komaeda, he uses his luck to imitate him, and, in the end, pave the way for hope in his world by taking his title.

Episode 5

Arisato proves that, more than a "stepping stone", he's an anchor holding the belt back as he rightfully takes it back.

Episode 7

Participates in the AEW Singles Championship Tournament.
