"I am Calypso, and I thank you for playing Twisted Metal." ― CalypsoA character from Twisted Metal.
Devil's Tournament[edit | edit source]
William Sparks was a kid with an obsession with cars (and roadkill). One day when he was 14, he saw a copperhead and tried to run it over with his parents' car. However, he didn't notice his sister leaning against the car, and accidentally ran her over. His parents made him clean up the remains of his sister, and in his way to cope, he grabbed her doll and started believing it was her. Ever since, the guilt has been eating him, trying to commit suicide time and time, but failing each time as if the devil was playing with him.
He later married Joanie and had a daughter. His obsession with cars continued, and one day at the demolition derby, a stray tire flew into his wife, killing her.
Years later while driving along his daughter, he was drunk and saw her wife's ghost, who said she was in hell and to come along. Restating that he couldn't die before, she told him just to close his eyes while driving. He drove into a wall, dying instantly, but however, forgot his daughter was also on the car, killing her too. For him, his car crashed right in hell, and spent there 2 years, until he managed to outrun the demon Minion. Meeting Satan for his prowess, he was a great fan of fatal demolition derbies, and revives him giving him a ring that could grant wishes, if he hosts derbies to collect the world's best drivers' souls in exchange. He rose to hold the first Twisted Metal in 1995.
In 2005, after the winning of the previous tournaments mostly by Sweet Tooth, and by his rival demon Minion, Sergeant Carl Roberts manages to win, but his wish turned on himself, which Calypso deemed funny enough that he kept twisting the wishes of all future winners. He also stole Black, the most powerful demon created by Satan (Who appears as Mr. Ash in the tournaments simply to recover him).
In 2006, the FBI rebuilds his daughter as a robot to trick him into being killed by the explosive carried by her. She doesn't actually win, but Jamie Roberts, to find where Calypso sent his brother. Or that would have been, had Captain Rogers not won.
In 2008, after Sweet Tooth was won more than anyone else and his wish was simply to continue the carnage, he wishes instead to take over Calypso, and steals his ring.
In 2009, he enters Twisted Metal as a contestant to win back what's rightfully him. He gives Black a mission to fulfill.
In Midtown, in the year of 2001, he liberates 13 patients from a mental institution offering them wishes, and hosts Twisted Metal. However, this all takes place inside Sweet Tooth's head 2001, with each character being part of his psyche. Agent Stone is a miserable lunatic police officer who kill the very people he is bound to serve and protect. Mr. Grimm is his idea that war fuels humanity and his own taste for human flesh. John Doe represents the adage "no good deed goes unpunished", also the embodiment of Needles' general pessimism, as everything he did was for nothing. Bloody Mary represent his belief that love is naive and impossible. Dollface represents that trying to follow someone's order is foolish as you pay more than what you receive, as her punishment is far greater than her job. Raven is he views the real Mortimer's ways of avenging the innocent. The Preacher is just the man who cursed Needles Kane with his fiery hair, but also likely represents Sweet Tooth's cynicism towards moral righteousness. No-Face represents how he sees the world, as Needles sees the world as a darkness just like how No-Face sees the world as a darkness. Charlie Kane's son represents how he may or may not know that he might of forgotten about his family. Cage represents any rival(s) who want to be better than Needles, but even they have feelings, unlike Needles. Marcus Kane, is Needles' original personality who is only awake when Sweet Tooth sleeps and as so thinks all the events of Twisted Metal are horrible nightmares that he wishes would go away. Black is not a part of his mind at all, but a demon employed by calypso to kill his counterpart in Needle's mind, and when he eventually does so, kills Sweet Tooth's drive to take over Twisted Metal, and turns the timeline by making him kill Captain Rogers.
In 2010, he uses his powers, which have become stronger from all the dead souls, to revive his daughter, but it is not permanent unless she wishes for it. However, after finding all the death his father has caused, she chose not to.
In 2012, as CEO of Calypso Industries, when he had become so powerful he overpowers Satan and makes his own tower where he keeps all the dead souls. He also captured the Preacher who was trying to thwart his plans.
After being banished by the devil, he found himself in the world of The Final Rumble, where instead HE must compete for a wish instead of granting them. And he's determined to return to his old world, or bring destruction into this one, whichever happens first.
Kojima now has cursed him into turning blue for losing, which has made him even angrier.
He had to win the championship to remove his curse and had to team up with another cursed man, but now he has lost the chance...
When Kojima attacked with his army of prototypes, he was one of the few to step up instead of flee in terror. Most probably because he has been in hell before, and his two motives to save TFR: #1 to payback Kojima for what he did to him with that curse; and #2, because he still needs to take over TFR and get the Holy Belt if he wants his powers back and reviving his family.
However, he wasn't enough to defeat the dimensional aberration.
When he was offered to participate in a tournament like the ones he held for the chance to win the greatest prize of them all, he had no option to accept and join and was trapped in the DEATH GAME in Universe 2K20.
He was selected for the non-candidate Death Rumble where the first 10 eliminated are sentenced to the wild ride and the winner and highest killer wins Immunity. He was the 11th elimination of the second rumble, narrowly avoiding death.
Episode 2[edit | edit source]
However, as La Parka put it, there's no such thing as hope or a lucky draw in this game. Him and the other one who was the 11th eliminated would face in a deathmatch to face instant execution. Reviewbrah won, and Calypso condemned.
